The two postulancies of the Vicariate of Mexico and Costa Rica, located in Mexico City and in Pozos de Santa Ana (San José, Costa Rica), have prepared their candidates for the novitiate in recent months and have accompanied them in the final stage of their philosophical studies before sending them to Spain, where in August they will begin the novitiate accompanied by the rest of the candidates from the Provinces of Saint Nicholas of Tolentine and Saint Thomas of Vilanova of the Order of Augustinian Recollects.
At the St. Augustine Postulancy in Mexico City, Jair and Ángel completed their philosophical studies on June 5th. A week later, the three pre-novices (the two mentioned above plus Iván) participated in the retreat “The Images of God” in Ameca Ameca, State of Mexico.
On June 24, a Mass of Thanksgiving and Farewell was held for the Postulancy, with the three men accompanied by their families and friars from Central Mexico. Earlier, Iván had also been given a farewell Mass at the Parish of Saint Martin de Porres in Ciudad Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, his hometown.
While the three were preparing to begin the next important step in their vocational discernment in Spain, the Postulancy was holding meetings and retreats with those considering a vocation to determine their admission. Nine young men have undergone this preliminary accompaniment and will decide this summer whether to join the Postulancy. They come from Oaxaca, Tabasco, Guerrero, Colima, Ecatepec, and Mexico City.
In Costa Rica, on June 7, the last vocational retreat, entitled “Everything Begins When You Let Yourself Be Seen,” took place with the participation of 17 young people. It was a day of prayer, reflection, fellowship, and discernment that will also open the doors of the Postulancy to new candidates.
Thus, the Saint Ezekiel Moreno Postulancy held a thanksgiving and farewell service on Sunday, July 12, for the two candidates for the novitiate, just before their trip to Spain. They are Luis Daniel Garro and Ahunder Celín García. On the 16th, they were seen off at the airport by their families and by members of the training team who have accompanied them during the last few years in Pozos de Santa Ana.
