The Augustinian Recollects of Argentina Hold Their Spiritual Exercises 2025

From November 3 to 7, the religious of the Vicariate of Argentina participated in the annual Spiritual Exercises at the Quinta San Agustín, in Pilar (Buenos Aires). The retreat was preached by Fr. Miguel Miró OAR and was developed under the theme of the Jubilee: "Pilgrims of Hope."

The Augustinian Recollect religious of the Vicariate of Argentina, belonging to the Province of Saint Thomas of Villanova, celebrated their Spiritual Exercises 2025 at the Quinta San Agustín, located in Pilar, Buenos Aires. During five days of retreat, the friars delved into spiritual life, inner silence, and personal and community renewal.

The Exercises are held each year and bring together the religious who serve in the different ministries of the six communities of the vicariate. This edition took place from November 3 to 7 and was led by Fr. Miguel Miró Miró OAR , former Prior General of the Order, recognized for his spiritual accompaniment and extensive experience in the formation of religious.

“Pilgrims of Hope”: Focus of the Retreat

The meditations of Fr. Miguel Miró focused on the theme of the Jubilee 2025, “Pilgrims of Hope”, inviting participants to rediscover the inner path as a process of conversion, listening, and trust in God. Each day combined moments of teaching, personal prayer, and community spaces that fostered an atmosphere of silence, reflection, and fraternity.

The daily schedule included:

  • Formative talks by the preacher,

  • times of personal reflection,

  • prayer before the Blessed Sacrament,

  • community celebration of the Liturgy of the Hours,

  • and the Eucharist, presided over each day by a religious from one of the communities.

The closing mass was celebrated by the Vicar of Argentina, Fr. Daniel Medina OAR , who encouraged the friars to keep the spiritual fervor alive and to renew their apostolic commitment in their respective pastoral assignments.

Renewing Strength for the Mission

The participants expressed that this annual experience is “a true return to the source”: a time to recharge strength, strengthen the interior life, and renew the willingness to serve with joy in the various pastoral ministries of Buenos Aires, Mar del Plata, Rosario, and Santa Fe.

With grateful hearts, the religious began their return to their communities, strengthened by the fraternal coexistence and the depth of these days of spiritual retreat.
