The Augustinian Recollect Secular Fraternity and the Christian Mothers of Saint Monica of the San Ezequiel Moreno y Díaz Parish in Pasto, Colombia, participated on Saturday, October 3, in a spiritual retreat in preparation for the Centenary of the Consecration of the Order to the Virgin of Consolation.
The meeting brought together these two groups of the Augustinian Recollect Family for a day of prayer, formation, and fraternity, within the context of the journey the entire Order is undertaking toward the renewal of its Marian consecration, scheduled for December 8, 2026.
The day took place at the estate of Mrs. Magola Unigarro de Revelo, a pioneer member of the ARSF, located in the district of Chacapual.
A day of prayer and fraternity
Participants gathered at 8:00 AM in the parish courtyard to depart together for the retreat site. Upon arrival, they were welcomed by the hostess in a fraternal and family atmosphere, which helped prepare their hearts for prayer, reflection, and community encounter.
The retreat began with an invocation to the Holy Spirit, asking for his guidance through the intercession of the Virgin of Consolation. The morning was accompanied by Fr. Vincent Cadeliña, OAR, who presented the theme of Augustinian Recollect Marian traditions. After the talk, participants worked in groups, engaged in creative dynamics, and shared their reflections in an assembly.
Before lunch, the Midday Prayer was held, a moment of recollection that reinforced the spiritual dimension of the day. Afterward, the community shared a meal, enjoyed a brief rest, and also had the opportunity to approach the sacrament of reconciliation.
The Centenary Rosary
In the afternoon, at 2:15 PM, the Centenary Rosary was prayed. Each mystery was offered for a special intention: the General Administration of the Order and the four Augustinian Recollect provinces. In this way, the prayer of the Pasto community was spiritually united with the entire Order and its various presences throughout the world.
After the rosary, Fr. Vincent Cadeliña presented a second reflection on the Circular Letter of Blessed Vicente Soler, OAR, from 1926, the document that established the consecration of the entire Order to the Virgin Mary. Based on this teaching, the ARSF and the Christian Mothers of Saint Monica received questions for dialogue and community reflection.
A community on the way with the Order
The retreat concluded at 4:00 PM with the celebration of the Holy Mass in honor of the Virgin of Consolation, the central and culminating moment of the day.
Participants valued the meeting as an experience of grace, renewal, and fraternity. For the Pasto community, belonging to the Province of San Ezequiel Moreno, this retreat represents a significant step in their journey of spiritual and charismatic communion with the Augustinian Recollect Family.
With this event, the San Ezequiel Moreno y Díaz Parish joins the preparation process that the entire Order is undergoing ahead of the solemn act of consecration scheduled for December 8, 2026, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. In Pasto, Marian devotion, secular fraternity, and the spirit of Saint Monica become a path of communion to continue announcing Christ from the Augustinian Recollect charism.
