The application, developed by the Communication Office of the Order of Augustinian Recollects, proposes an interactive experience to explore the history, art, and Augustinian spirituality in Madrid during the days of the papal visit.

The Augustinian family in Spain has presented Madrid Agustiniano, an innovative mobile application created to accompany the visit of Pope Leo XIV to Spain, which will take place from June 6 to 9. The digital tool, available through agustiniano.madrid, will allow pilgrims, tourists, and Madrid residents to discover the rich spiritual, historical, and cultural heritage that the Augustinians have developed in the Spanish capital over the centuries.

The initiative is part of the project Agustinos con el Papa, a platform promoted by the Augustinian family to follow and spread the visit of the Holy Father from a perspective marked by the charism of Saint Augustine.

An interactive experience to discover the Augustinian history of Madrid

The application transforms the visit to Madrid into an immersive and educational experience. Through an exploration and learning system, users tour the most emblematic places linked to the Augustinian presence in the city, discovering churches, schools, social works, cultural spaces, and figures who have contributed to the history of the Church and society.

The tour is inspired by the formative journey of Augustinian religious life itself. Each user begins as an Augustinian novice and, as they advance in the knowledge of the heritage, spirituality, and culture of the Augustinian family, they unlock levels and earn recognitions within the application.

From the novitiate to the level of Augustinian Master

The proposal combines elements of gamification and cultural dissemination to make the experience more attractive. Each place visited, each content discovered, and each challenge overcome allows users to accumulate points and progress within the itinerary.

The final objective is to reach the level of “Augustinian Master”, a symbolic distinction that represents the knowledge acquired about the Augustinian tradition present in Madrid and its contribution to the life of the universal Church.

A project developed in communion by the entire Augustinian family

“Madrid Agustiniano” is the result of extensive collaborative work carried out by the different branches of the Augustinian family present in Spain. For months, religious and lay people have joined efforts to create a tool capable of showing the world the richness of a spiritual tradition that remains alive and current.

The application is born as one of the central initiatives of the project Agustinos con el Papa, from which special coverage of Leo XIV’s visit will be offered, as well as informational resources, multimedia content, and pastoral materials to deepen the meaning of this ecclesial event.

The mark of Saint Augustine in the city that will welcome the Pope

Leo XIV’s visit constitutes a unique opportunity to approach the Augustinian history of Madrid and discover how the legacy of Saint Augustine continues inspiring education, culture, evangelization, and social commitment.

With “Madrid Agustiniano”, the Augustinian family puts technology at the service of evangelization, offering an innovative tool that invites users to tour the city from a faith-based and cultural perspective, while accompanying one of the most important ecclesial events of the year.

The application can be downloaded for free through agustiniano.madrid, while all information related to the Pope’s visit will be available on agustinosconelpapa.es.
