An experience of faith and missionary service

The Augustinian Recollect Youths carried out a national mission in the city of Buenos Aires, focusing on the Parish of Our Lady of Luján. The experience brought together about 40 young people, mostly from the San José parish of Santa Fe, together with young people from different communities of Buenos Aires: Consolación, San José, Asunción, San Andrés and the host parish itself.

During the days of the mission, the young people experienced intense spaces of formation, prayer and reflection, which strengthened their spirituality and their Christian commitment. These instances were accompanied by young religious of the Vicariate of Argentina, who encouraged the formative themes and walked with the missionaries in each of the pastoral activities.

Closeness to the most fragile realities

One of the central focuses of the mission was service to people in situations of greater vulnerability. The young people visited the San José Nursing Home, the Santa Ana Home and the Belgrano Hospital, where they offered their time, listening and closeness to residents and patients as well as the staff of each institution.

These visits were experienced as privileged spaces for human and evangelical encounter, where presence, word and simple gesture became concrete signs of hope and consolation.

Territorial work and community commitment

The mission also included important territorial work through house-to-house visits in the neighborhoods linked to the Inmaculada and San Ignacio de Loyola chapels, bringing a message of accompaniment and closeness to families.

In addition, the young people carried out maintenance and improvement tasks in community spaces, such as the painting of rooms in the Inmaculada chapel and the restoration of the parish benches, contributing to the care and beautification of the community meeting places.

Celebrating faith in community

As a closing of the mission, a community kermesse was carried out that brought together families, children and young people in an atmosphere of joy, encounter and celebration. This festive moment expressed the fraternal spirit that marked the entire missionary experience and strengthened the bonds between the young people and the parish community.

The national mission of the ARs was experienced as a time of profound encounter with God and with their brothers and sisters. The young people returned to their communities strengthened in faith and renewed in their commitment to continue building a close, supportive and missionary Church, from the Augustinian Recollect charism.
