Fr. Bruno D’Andrea presents “In the One Christ We Are One”

On November 6, in the Mother of Good Counsel Community, the book In the One Christ We Are One by the Augustinian Recollect Fr. Bruno D’Andrea OAR was presented. The work offers a simple and profound introduction to Augustinian spirituality and was presented together with a reflection by Fray Enrique Gómez García OAR.

The Mother of Good Counsel Community hosted the presentation of the new book by Fr. Bruno D’Andrea OAR , entitled In the One Christ We Are One: Augustinian Spirituality in the Heart of Life. The work proposes a clear and accessible approach to the thought of Saint Augustine, with the intention of showing the relevance of his message and its capacity to illuminate the inner search of the human being.

The author divides the book into three main parts—Three Companions, A Search and In the Heart of Life—that describe a spiritual itinerary inspired by the metaphors of the road, pilgrimage, and community accompaniment. According to D’Andrea, these keys allow us to “walk ecclesiastically” and open spaces for formation, reflection, and prayer.

During the presentation, Fray Enrique Gómez García OAR highlighted that the book invites us to “return to the Inner Master,” a central theme in Augustinian spirituality. Throughout the work, the reader finds questions aimed at examining one’s own life from the light of the Gospel and in dialogue with the experience of Saint Augustine.

The day concluded with the concert Return to Your Heart, performed by Augustinian Recollect friars. The songs, inspired by Augustinian texts, reminded us that music is also a path towards interiority, in continuity with the message of the book.

For many of the attendees, the work of Fr. Bruno D’Andrea is presented as “a journey in the company of Augustine,” as expressed by Professor Elena Zocca, who emphasizes that the book establishes a living dialogue between the reader and the work of the Bishop of Hippo.

This new title, available in the Order’s bookstore, becomes a formative resource for communities, pastoral agents, laity, and anyone seeking to deepen their understanding of Augustinian spirituality from a close, ecclesial, and current perspective.
