The Assembly of friars in Brazil, a space for discernment and mission
The Assembly of Friars in Brazil took place between January 5 and 8, 2026, at Sítio Santo Agostinho, in Rio de Janeiro. The meeting brought together religious from various areas of activity in the Province, convened to experience a time of reflection, evaluation, and community discernment regarding the Augustinian-Recollect life and mission.
Throughout the week, the friars delved into fundamental issues for the provincial journey, with special attention to economics and accountability, as well as various legal aspects, including current legislation, labor regulations, and the signing of official documents necessary for the institutional life of the Province.
Economics, mission, and shared responsibility
The Assembly’s program also included addressing topics directly linked to the Order’s evangelizing mission. Among these, the reflection on vocations, formation, the missionary ministry, and pastoral accompaniment stood out, as well as issues related to ARCORES, the works of the Province, and the work of the Social Action Commission.
These spaces allowed for reviewing the work done in recent years and projecting new orientations, always from a joint perspective that integrates Augustinian spirituality, social reality, and the current demands of the mission.
Teamwork at the service of the Provincial Chapter
The work was carried out in a participatory manner, organized in teams. Each group received guiding questions and reflection materials that will serve as input for the next Provincial Chapter, contributing to a deeper and more co-responsible discernment.
The Assembly was thus consolidated as a key space to strengthen fraternal communion, the sense of belonging, and commitment to the mission, in a climate of dialogue, listening, and shared responsibility.
Walking together in fidelity to the mission
The celebration of the Assembly of Friars in Brazil represents a significant step in the preparation of the next Provincial Chapter and in the consolidation of a common project. From community reflection and discernment, the friars renew their commitment to continue serving the Church and society from the Augustinian Recollect charism, attentive to the signs of the times and the needs of the people of God.
