The renewal and constant change, the modernization of facilities and the adaptation of spaces for the best educational service translate each year at the educational center of the Augustinian Recollects in Valladolid into the use of non-school periods, when students enjoy their holidays, to carry out works and improvements.
During the last two weeks of August, the Early Childhood area (students aged three to six) was visited by the construction workers. The age of the children using these facilities requires an environment of well-being, comfort, safety, and very special care.
The renovations aimed to bring much more light and brightness to the entire space. The classrooms are now much more open, allowing natural light to flood in from all sides, reaching every student and promoting concentration, calm, and creativity.
Furthermore, the materials of the formerly cold hallways and the wall tiles have been replaced with wood and other natural materials. Now the look is warm and welcoming, and the children are exposed from the start to natural elements that remind them of nature and the importance of preserving the environment.
On the other hand, the access points have been made much more suitable for their age, facilitating transit, cleaning operations, hygiene and safety, without any elements that could be dangerous to the child’s physical integrity during their movements.
The layout is much more functional and allows educators to constantly supervise and keep an eye on each child, but in a close way, without them feeling watched, but rather accompanied.
The new school year will start shortly, and the professional teaching team will be able to take advantage of this new conception of spaces to facilitate their task: to lead these boys and girls towards a happy conception of school and their education, towards healthy and group growth, towards values that promote inner reflection, friendship, knowledge, solidarity, and that students bring out from within themselves all that wisdom that we carry inside, accompanied by so many new daily discoveries.
