The Augustinian Recollect friars who work in the four communities of the Mexican state of Chihuahua (Ciudad Delicias, Ciudad Cuauhtémoc, La Junta and the capital itself, which hosted the meeting) met with the provincial prior, Friar Carlos González, in an atmosphere of fraternity, prayer, dialogue and communion.
With the start of the triennium 2026-2029, the provincial prior has an opportunity in the fraternal visit to meet with all the religious and members of the Augustinian-Recollect Family, listen to them, share their life and mission, review their task and encourage the renewal of spiritual and charismatic life.
It is also a time to strengthen the bonds of communion and for everyone to allow themselves to be challenged by the Spirit regarding the way in which they live and proclaim the Gospel from the Augustinian Recollect charism.
During the meeting, the Province’s priorities for the next three years were presented, as outlined in the Project of Life and Mission approved at the Chapter. The main objectives are for all the Province’s communities to feel renewed, to pray and live in fraternity, to discern their mission together, to promote vocations, to evangelize alongside the laity, and to joyfully share their charism and vocation.
The central idea of the provincial prior in his speech was that each person should know how to love like Christ, look with compassion like Christ, and convert their heart to live each day more like Christ.
The meeting, which was attended by eleven religious residents of northern Mexico, plus the provincial prior and the secretary of the Province, served to remind everyone that no one walks alone, but together with their brothers, all called to share the same life, the same spirituality and the same mission.
The meeting also had as a reason for joy the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the priesthood of the Augustinian Recollect José Ignacio Jiménez, who was ordained on September 27, 1986 and presided over the Eucharist for this reason.
