The Secular Augustinian-Recollect Fraternity of the Visayas region successfully celebrated its 21st Annual Regional Meeting on October 18 and 19, 2025 at Nature’s Village Resort, in Talisay City, Negros Occidental (Philippines). Under the theme “Pilgrims of Hope in the Jubilee Year 2025 of profound faith and lasting love”, the meeting strengthened unity, faith, and shared service among the local chapters.
A festive and fraternal meeting
The event was organized by the host chapter, SARF of the San Nicolás de Tolentino Parish – Talisay, under the guidance of Fr. Jorr Rabacal, OAR, and was attended by six chapters from different cities in the center of the country. The day began with the registration of delegates, followed by a parade of flags that symbolized communion around the Augustinian Recollect charism.
During the opening ceremony, Ma. Lisa Lorraine H. Atotubo , president of the host chapter, welcomed the participants. Special guests included Ma. Windie Oane , provincial secretary of the SARF, and Miriam Ruiz, president of the SEMoNore chapter of Antipolo.
Activities included group dynamics to foster fellowship, the enthronement of the relic of Saint Ezekiel Moreno, and the celebration of the Eucharist presided over by Fr. Joseph Cyprian J. Panaligan, OAR. The day culminated in a lively Gatsby-style fraternal evening, full of songs, dances, and shared joy.
New commitments, same spirit
The second day began with the praying of the rosary and morning prayer, followed by the Eucharistic celebration with the rites of admission to the probationary period and promise of commitment for new members, in the Parish of San Nicolás de Tolentino. The mass was presided over by Fr. Leonardo Paulique, OAR, regional spiritual advisor.
During the rite, 16 candidates were admitted as aspirants and 9 members made their final promise. Sister Windie Oane facilitated the ceremony, accompanying the candidates in this significant step.
The day concluded with the announcement of the next host chapter for the 2026 meeting, an official group photo, and a fraternal meal in the parish gymnasium.
A testimony of living faith
The 21st Regional Meeting of SARF Visayas was a profoundly spiritual and community experience. The Secular Augustinian Recollect Fraternity in the Philippines continues to grow as a living testimony of hope, faith, and lasting love, guided by the charism of Saint Augustine and the missionary impulse of the Recollection.
