Kamabai, Sierra Leone – The Recollect Community in Kamabai honored a significant event with the “Toma de Posesión” of newly re-appointed local prior on January 8, 2026. Fray Anthony Morillo, President of the Secretariat of Mission and Ministerial Apostolate, who was delegated by the Prior Provincial, led the ceremony and installer Fray Kenneth Caligdong, as the local prior of the community.
Fray Morillo emphasized the importance of leadership within the community, noting that while all members should be regarded as equals, there must be someone recognized as first among them. He highlighted the significant responsibilities that come with the role of prior, particularly in maintaining and establishing peace and harmony within the community. In his address to Fray Caligdong, he stated, “Our community is not a perfect community, just like in the family, but what matters is that all of us are still happy.”
The rite drew a number of key figures from the Recollect community, including Fray Elpedio Sarita Jr, with the two deacons who are assigned in Sierra Leone for their pastoral exposure program: Fray Helfrid Palmis, and Fray Neil Robert Alilain, OAR.
The attendance of community members from nearby Kamalo further added to the celebratory atmosphere, highlighting the unity and commitment of the Recollect family in the region.
