Recollect Family
The Augustinian Recollect family is made up of the various female congregations, youth movements, and the Secular Augustinian Recollect Fraternity. All of them live the Augustinian Recollect charism with their own peculiarities.
Augustinian Recollects
The Augustinian Recollect nuns share the Augustinian Recollect charism, as they were born at the same time as the Order and with the same desire to seek God from within and through dedication. With their contemplative life, the sisters make visible an essential dimension of our identity: to remind the entire Recollect family that mission is always born from silence, prayer, and union with God.
Barefoot Augustinians of Saint John of Rivera
The Barefoot Augustinians of Saint John of Ribera live a charism deeply marked by interiority, adoration, and fraternity, following the Rule of Saint Augustine and the Constitutions of Saint Teresa. Born from the reforming impulse of Saint John of Ribera, who was in love with Christ Eucharist, their communities have been, throughout the centuries, homes of silence, prayer, and total surrender to Jesus “made Bread.”
Augustinian Recollect Sisters
The Augustinian Recollects of the Blessed Sacrament were born around the sanctuary of the Virgin of Carmen, in Manila, driven by a deep desire to live with simplicity, prayer, and dedication. Their withdrawn and devout life gave shape, over time, to a congregation dedicated especially to the education and accompaniment of youth, especially in rural contexts, sowing hope wherever they are sent.
Augustinian Recollect Missionaries
The Augustinian Recollect Missionaries live their vocation from the mission, taking the Gospel to where the Church needs them most. Inspired by Saint Augustine and the spirit of Recollection, they seek to make Christ present in the midst of the world, building fraternal community and cultivating a deep interiority, even in the most demanding places of their dedication.
Augustinian Recollects of the Heart of Jesus
The Augustinian Recollects of the Heart of Jesus, present in Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, and Chile, live their vocation serving with tenderness and dedication those who need it most. Their mission is expressed above all in the care of the sick, the elderly, and children, through hospitals, nursing homes, and orphanages where charity becomes a concrete gesture. They also accompany educational ministry, offering training and hope in the schools they administer.
Augustinian Recollects of the sick
The Augustinian Recollects of the Sick, present in Colombia, live their mission united to the San Ezequiel Moreno Foundation, accompanying with love and hope cancer patients and their families. Their service, discreet and deeply evangelical, makes present the tenderness of God in the midst of pain.
Commanders of Santiago
The Commanders of Santiago form a female contemplative community that lives according to the Rule of Saint Augustine and is heir to the spiritual tradition of the ancient Order of Santiago. Its history goes back to the 12th century, when its first monasteries began to emerge, called “comendadoras” because of the mission and the territory entrusted to their spiritual care.
Secular Augustinian Recollect Fraternity
The Secular Augustinian Recollect Fraternity brings together men and women who, from their lay life, wish to live the Gospel inspired by Augustinian spirituality. They share the path with the Recollect family, participate in its charism and mission, and make present in the world, from their daily reality, the interiority, fraternity, and service that characterize our way of following Christ.
Augustinian Recollect Youth
The Augustinian Recollect Youth (JAR) bring together young people who wish to follow Christ from joy, friendship, and the lifestyle of Saint Augustine. In the countries where we are present, the religious accompany this path to form a committed youth laity, which grows in interiority, lives the faith in community, and feels part of the great Augustinian Recollect family.
Bishops
The Augustinian Recollect bishops are a living part of our family. There are 23 of them throughout the world, called by the Church to serve as pastors in various dioceses in Spain and America. Although their mission leads them to a different dedication from community life, they continue to live the Augustinian Recollect charism wherever they are, accompanying the people of God with closeness, interiority, and fraternal spirit.
