“Proclaim Christ wherever you can”: liturgical subsidy to begin the Augustinian Recollect Missionary Year

The Order of Augustinian Recollects offers a liturgical subsidy for the Eucharist of the opening of the Missionary Year 2026, with the motto “Proclaim Christ wherever you can”

The Order of Augustinian Recollects makes available to communities, parishes, schools and fraternities a liturgical subsidy to celebrate the Eucharist for the opening of the Missionary Year 2026, inspired by the motto of Saint Augustine: “Proclaim Christ wherever you can”. This material aims to help live the mission as a path of holiness and sending, in communion with the entire Augustinian Recollect Family.

A year to rekindle the missionary flame

The Missionary Year 2026 is not just a motto or a specific campaign: it is an invitation to renew the missionary identity of the Order and the entire Augustinian Recollect Family. The subsidy recalls that the mission is born from the Eucharist and is embodied in daily life: in the parish, in the school, in the university, at work, in the neighborhood, wherever each one is.

Following the words of the Prior General, the text emphasizes that holiness and mission form a single path, which leads to the heart of God and pushes us to leave our comfort to bring the Gospel to all.

What does the liturgical subsidy offer?

The material is designed to accompany the Eucharist for the opening of the Missionary Year in any presence of the Augustinian Recollect Family, adapting to the local context. It contains:

  • Entrance address and pastoral notes to introduce the meaning of the Missionary Year.

  • Initial rites with proposals for singing, act of penance and collect prayer with a marked missionary tone.

  • Liturgy of the Word with readings focused on the proclamation of the Gospel (1 Cor 9:16-23; Mk 16:15-20), responsorial psalm and missionary acclamation.

  • Explicit rite of opening of the Missionary Year, with proclamation of the motto “PROCLAIM CHRIST WHEREVER YOU CAN” and a sending formula that involves the entire community.

  • Prayer of the faithful for the Church, the pastors, the missionaries, the young people and the vocations, with special reference to the Recollect saints and martyrs.

  • Address and prayer over the offerings, with suggestions for a procession of missionary symbols (cross, Bible, images of saints, signs of the missions of the Order).

  • Texts for communion and prayer after communion, asking for creativity, closeness and simplicity for the mission.

  • Solemn missionary blessing and sending formula, which presents the life of the Christian as the Eucharist offered to the world.

Prayer for the entire Missionary Year

The subsidy also includes a specific prayer for the Augustinian Recollect Missionary Year 2025-2026, designed to be prayed at the end of the Eucharists, community meetings, classes in schools, fraternity meetings and other spaces of the Augustinian Recollect Family.

In it, we ask the Lord Jesus to renew “the passion to evangelize with ever-renewed joy”, to be missionaries in everyday things, to build missionary communities and to bring the living hope of Christ to families, jobs and parishes, under the protection of Mary, Mother of Consolation, and the intercession of Saint Augustine, Saint Ezekiel Moreno and the Recollect saints.

For whom is it intended

The subsidy is designed to be used by the entire Augustinian Recollect Family:

  • Religious and parish communities.

  • Schools, universities and educational works.

  • Secular fraternities and laity linked to Augustinian Recollect spirituality.

Each community is called to adapt it to its reality, incorporating references to its local context and the missionary challenges of its environment.
