Ongoing Formation: A Path of Renewal for 18 Augustinian Recollects in Mexico

Cuernavaca, Morelos. — The consecrated life is a path of continuous growth. With this certainty, the House of Recollection in Ahuatepec has initiated the Ongoing Formation Encounters , a vital program designed specifically for religious brothers in their mature stage, between the ages of 40 and 55 years old.

From January 11 to 31, 2026, this formative space seeks to ensure that the friars not only take a break from their work, but also immerse themselves in a dynamic of updating and revitalizing their “Yes” to the Lord.

The Importance of Ongoing Formation

This encounter responds to the need to accompany the human and psychological reality of this vital stage. It is not a simple retreat, but an integral program that seeks to “recover the personal history and experience of what has been lived” to integrate it into a coherent life project.

The central objective is for each religious brother to be able to “deepen and better live their own charism” and “reintegrate into the Augustinian project of love and ecclesial service” , understanding the possible crises of age as opportunities to generate new life in Christ Jesus.

International Fraternity

The richness of ongoing formation is also experienced in the communion of cultures. 18 friars from various provinces and countries attend the course: Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Spain, Costa Rica and Mexico.

Our Province actively participates by sending six brothers to this renewal experience:

  • Friar Oscar Carrizales

  • Friar Sergio Gerena

  • Friar Jimmy Osorio

  • Friar Richard Castro

  • Friar Juan Camilo Torres

  • Friar Marco Marte

A program for integral growth

During these three weeks, the formation covers various dimensions of the person and consecration:

  • Human Dimension: Through the “Foundations for Integral Development” workshop facilitated by Fr. José Víctor Orón , and sessions on leadership from trust with Mr. Juan Goñi .

  • Charismatic and Ecclesial Dimension: The experience of the charism and service to the Church from one’s own gifts will be deepened, with the accompaniment of Friar Héctor Manuel Calderón and Friar Francisco Javier Monroy.

  • Spiritual Dimension: The experience includes Augustinian pilgrimages and will culminate with the spiritual retreat “Born Again”, guided by Friar Miguel Miró.

Under the motto “Proclaim Christ wherever you can”, our brothers are experiencing days of grace. We pray that this stage of ongoing formation will be a true boost in their vocation and service.
