An Expected Official Announcement

The text, published in Spanish within the official bulletin of the Holy See, expressly states:

“Accepting the invitation of the Head of State and the ecclesiastical authorities of the country, the Holy Father Leo XIV will make an Apostolic Journey to Spain from June 6 to 12, 2026. The program of the journey will be announced in due course.”

With this announcement, the Holy See confirms a long-awaited visit by the Church in Spain, which is now preparing to receive the Successor of Peter in a particularly significant ecclesial and social context.

The Joy of the Augustinian Recollect Family

After the official announcement, the Prior General of the Order of Augustinian Recollects publicly expressed his closeness and hope through his official account on the social network X:

His words underscore the spiritual significance of this visit for the Church in Spain and, particularly, for the Augustinian Recollect Family, called to experience this event as an opportunity for communion, renewal, and witness.

An Apostolic Journey

An Apostolic Journey always constitutes an event of special relevance for the life of the local Church. Beyond its institutional dimension, the Pope’s presence expresses communion with the particular Churches and strengthens the evangelizing mission in each country.

In Spain, a nation with deep Christian roots and a significant historical presence of consecrated life—including the Order of Augustinian Recollects—the Holy Father’s visit represents an occasion for spiritual renewal, pastoral impetus, and public witness of faith.

In the coming months, details of the itinerary, planned meetings, and liturgical acts that will mark this Apostolic Journey will be announced.
